Kuala Lumpur- In a compelling start to the internal elections within the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, incumbent and Tapah member of Parliament has clinched an uncontested win for the esteemed position of Deputy President. With no other nominations submitted for the post, Saravanan’s unopposed victory highlights the trust and confidence reposed in his leadership within the party.

The upcoming MIC elections, set for July 6, 2024, promise a riveting display of democratic fervor as the party members gear up to cast their votes for the Vice Presidents positions and the Central Working Committee (CWC) seats. The race for the Vice Presidents positions features a four-cornered battle, with incumbents Datuk T. Mohan, Datuk T. Murugaiah, and Datuk Asojan facing competition from newcomer Datuk Neslon Renganathan.
Simultaneously, the CWC elections have attracted a notable lineup of 45 candidates contending for the 21 available positions. Among the prominent figures in the running are Thinalan Dato T.
